Marilla Zerbert
Rilla is an artist of the word and paper sort. She writes for the joy of it and finds the craft painstaking and rewarding. A former FanFiction.net writer, most of her early work is still found online. (See below.)
Rilla began Dragonfly Prince, a serial Bildungsroman fantasy adventure, in 2009, which changed both her writing focus and her perception of herself–as a writer rather than a scribbler. She began working with other writers to hone her craft and developed a love for beta reading and editing. (She would eat manuscripts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, if she could.)
Occupation: full-time mom & home educator (highschool), part-time freelancer/blog editor, beta, and novel editor
Nationality: American
Religion: Christian (not Catholic, not Protestant)
Some of her works currently viewable online:
A Lyrical Persuasion
(Persuasion/Phantom of the Opera crossover)
Published 2007
Summary:
Anne Elliot met Frederik “Erik” Wentworth at 17. When she meets Erik again, he is a famous musical composer. Will love flourish again, or will she fall for her uncle’s stepson, the dashing Raoul de Chagny?

Five Afflictions of Online Writers

Hello!
I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award, but I now see you have already been nominated. Whoops! Oh, well, I’m still putting your blog on my recommended list! Of course, information about the rules (which are really simple) can be found here: http://carrierubin.com/2012/01/30/the-versatile-blogger-award-pour-moi/
Yes, these awards are a bit “chain letter”ish, but I gather it is a nice way of letting others know you enjoy their blog, as I do yours! So go forth with it as you see fit, but thank you for sharing your insights with the world!

It is great to know that you started and gained audience through fanfiction. Very reassuring for aspiring writers! Do you still have the links to those works? It would be nice to know and thank you for following! 🙂

Hi, Maria! You’re welcome! It’s always a pleasure to find a blogger with a love for the classics and their brilliant authors. I’ve contemplated posting links to the works I’ve left up. (Most of them I’ve taken down in hopes of polishing them up and submitting them.) I think I’ll follow your advice and post links soon. Thanks!

I love your blog, pic, and scribbling heart. Been going through past posts and smiling. Never give up internal expression through external words. For a writer, sometimes a simple story explains one’s complicated heart best…I’m learning this through trial, error, and writer’s block. One day the walls will crumble, I truly believe, so I keep trying to form words and seek the right project. Anyway, I have a new blog that I’m actually updating. Yay. Grace and peace be with you!

I’m glad you did, too, Beth! I remember reading a previous blog of yours. One of your relatives sent me the link, knowing I was looking for women’s Bible study blogs at the time. That’s been years ago now, but I came away with the encouraging belief that there *are* women studying the Bible with the same intense need to search and discover its treasures. 😊 Thanks for being inspiring… without knowing it!
